GOP to appoint replacement

According to a Seward County Republican Party news release, the local party has been notified by Gov. Sam Brownback’s office that Seward County Attorney Don Scott has offered his resignation, effective Sept. 30.
The vacancy must be filled by selection of the Republican Precinct Committee members upon approval from the governor.
Seward County Republican Party Chairman Joe Denoyer has scheduled a convention to elect a new county attorney at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Seward County Administration Building Commissioner Chamber.

According to the release, prospective candidates will need to be nominated by a precinct member at the convention, and they will need to be present in order to give a brief presentation to the precinct committee men and women.
Following nominations and presentations, a vote will be taken, and the recommendation will be sent to Gov. Brownback for final approval.
