MEADE – Catherine I. Black, 92, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center in Meade.
She was born April 20, 1922 to Roscoe and Mary (Griffith) Wasson in Elkhart.
She married Lawrence Dale Black Aug. 1, 1940 in Meade. He preceded her in death Oct. 10, 1998.
She attended the Meade school system, graduating from Meade High School in 1940.
After her graduation, she made her home in Meade where she worked as an office assistant for the sale barn and the gas company.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star.
She enjoyed cooking, attending church, fraternal meetings, and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include daughter, Roxie Harris, Topeka; brother, Chester Wasson, Meade; grandsons, Sean Harris, Topeka, and Shane Harris, Las Vegas; great-granddaughter, Addison Kegan-Harris, Lawrence; and many nieces and nephews.
• Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, at Graceland Cemetery in Meade.
Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 12 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade, to sign the guest register.
Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
