Obituary

 

 

ULYSSES – Donald Albert Walsh, 85, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas.

He was born on May 13, 1929 to Lester Thomas and Freda (MacMahon) Walsh in Detroit.

He worked for Ralph Groceries in California for 40 years.

In his spare time he loved to boat, taught a sextant navigation course at a Junior College and was a volunteer member of the Coast Guard Power Squadron in the Los Angles Harbor.

When he gave up boating, he became an avid camper and mobile home owner.

He loved to travel and take photographs of the places he visited.

Survivors include life partner, Mary Ann Koehn; seven nephews; one niece;  thirteen great-nieces and nephews; and five great-great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Lester Walsh, Houston, Texas and Gerald Chester Walsh, Templeton, Calif.; and adopted son, Ralph Walsh.

• Celebration of Donald’s life will be held at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the Grant County Senior Center or a Cancer Foundation of your choice in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS  67880.
