Neoma Pauline Jones Blake, 62, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Reagan Memorial Hospital/Care Center.
She was born May 13, 1947, to Freddie and Velma Jones on a farm outside of Liberal.
She married Loyd Blake. He survives.
She went to school at Wide Awake Elementary and graduated high school at Liberal with high honors. She then went to Southwestern A/A University in Waxahachie, Texas, where she received her A/A in elementary education, again receiving high honors.
After college, the couple travelled the U.S. as evangelists for 25 years. They recorded five gospel albums.
The Blakes moved back to Big Lake, Texas, where Neoma was a teacher at all the schools with the last being Head Start.
She is also survived by two sons, Mitchell and wife, Ashleigh Spring, Big Lake, and Martin Blake, Big Lake; two brothers, Leroy Jones and wife, Linda Burgin, Plano, Texas, and Gary Jones and wife, Debbie, Liberal; one sister, Loretta Cunningham and husband, Verle, Topeka; nephews, Casey Jones, Liberal, and Tim Cunningham and wife, Sonya, with children, Kylon and Conner, Destin, Fla.; and niece, Joy Truax and son, Matthew, Topeka.
o Funeral services were at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 20, at the First Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Donald Pryor presiding, assisted by the Rev. Doyle Oliver.
Burial followed at Glen Rest Cemetery.
