Liberal went to Buffalo Dunes golf course at Garden City on Saturday and placed sixth overall with a score of 344.

Hutchinson was the winner with a score of 306 and Thane Ringler won with a score of 73.

Conner Warren and Alex Colvin carded 85 to earn a 19th place finish. Slader McVey had an 86 for 24th, Zane Ralston 88 for 29th place and Cameron Eatmon had a 96 and Lucas Poulton carded 100.

“It was a struggle for us on Saturday and I don't know why,” Liberal coach Kody Thexton said. “he boys played pretty well on the practice round and got to see the course. They knew what they were in for.”

The round of golf on Saturday was the third in three days which could have contirbuted to the sub-par play for the Redskins.

“It doesn't sound like much, but that is a six-to-seven-mile walk each time on the course,” Thexton said. “Hopefully we will be rested and ready to go on Friday when we got to Guymon.  The effort was there, we just have to find a way to stay focused the whole round.”
