After a perfect 7-0 start to his amateur career, Cesar Castillo is ready to make the move to the professional ranks Saturday when he faces Oklahoma City’s Joe Blurton (2-3).
“I’m ready to go to the next level,” Castillo said. “I’m ready to make it a career.”
Castillo’s 155-pound frame as chiseled, and he does not give away much about his game.
“I’ve won some fights on the ground, and some by TKO,” he said.
But he prefers to do a ground and pound by finishing off his fighters early in a ground assault.
That’s how he finished his last fight in the first minute of the first round.
Whether his opponent chooses to go to the ground or to stay on his feet, it really didn’t matter much to Castillo.
“I’m ready any way he want to take it,” he said.
The fight will be the first professional MMA fight in Liberal and will be one of the 19 fights during Throwdown Showdown 7 at 5 p.m. Saturday at Plantation Station. The winner will be crowned the lightweight Throwdown Showdown Champion
Tickets are available at Rine’s American Freestyle Karate located at Fourth and Grant.
