GUYMON, Okla. – Gerald Studivan, 90, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at Dunaway Manor in Guymon, Okla.
He was born on June 28, 1918, to Charles Joseph and Mary Ellen (Cochran) Sturdivan on the family homeplace in Texas County, Okla., 15 miles north of Guymon.
He married Frances Mills Feb. 4, 1939, at Siloam Springs, Ark. She survives.
He attended school at the Payne School near his home.
He was a farmer and rancher. The Sturdivans also owned Independent Hardware in Guymon from 1959 to 1966.
He was a charter member of the Straight Christian Church, and he also attended the First Christian Church in Guymon.
He was a past member of the Kiwanis Club, the Guymon Chamber of Commerce and the Gideon Bible Society. He had been honored as Pioneer Day Parade Marshall in 2006 and as the Eagle Nest, N.M., 4th of July Parade Marshall in 2007.
Other survivors include four children, Larry Sturdivan and wife, Betty, Longmont, Colo., Donna Johnston and husband, Doug, Canyon, Texas, Lynn Mason and husband, Romie, Liberal, and Sherry Curtis and husband, Don, Guymon; one brother, Walter Sturdivan and wife, Donna, Stockton, Calif.; one sister, Dorothy Kleffman, Guymon; seven grandchildren, Alecia Friemel, Deryck Sturdivan, Christopher Sturdivan, Jarrod Mason, Clay Curtis, Matt Curtis and Erin Purdy; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Mary Linda Sturdivan; three brothers, Cleo, Wilbur and Truman Sturdivan; and two sisters, Velma Thrall and Jean Browning.
o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Guymon with the Rev. Terry Neel presiding.
Burial will follow at the Hooker Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home.
