Mayor Ken Huckins, 47, of Guymon, Okla., died Tuesday in an Amarillo hospital due to complications of a brain aneurism and a heart attack on Monday, according to numerous media reports.
KFDA Channel 10 in Amarillo, Texas, posted two paragraphs on its Web site Tuesday afternoon which reads, “The mayor of Guymon has passed away. Two high level city officials say doctors at Baptist Saint Anthony’s pronounced Mayor Kenny Huckins clinically dead today.
“Huckins will be remembered for seeing Guymon through a growth in both population and economic expansion. There is no word from the family on what caused Huckin’s sudden death.”
An official answering the phone at the city manager’s office in Guymon said this morning she had not been notified of the mayor’s death. Guymon City Manager Ted Graham was not available for comment as of press time.
A spokesman with Henson Novak Funeral Home in Guymon confirmed they had received word of Huckin’s death and were awaiting the family’s details.
