A one-vehicle accident occurred north of Liberal Monday afternoon, although the driver was unharmed, assistance was needed in order to remove him from his pickup, Seward County Undersheriff Gene Austin said.
“A 32-year-old Liberal resident was southbound on Road J, approximately 3/4 of a mile north of Road No. 7, the vehicle went out of control and rolled on its top,” Austin said. “We first thought he was pinned in the truck, but he just couldn’t get out. It smashed the top down and he couldn’t get out. He was transported to Southwest Medical Center for observation, but checked out.”
As for the cause of the accident, Austin said it was unclear. However, he said, the wind could have played a role in the incident.
