Elizabeth K. Hill, 93, died Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

She was born May 15, 1917, to Ira George and Edith Mae (Stricklin) Ives in Seward County.

She married Lloyd B. Hill Dec. 24, 1935, in Hugoton. He died May 16, 1988.

She was a 1935 Liberal High School graduate.

She was a co-owner and partner in the family businesses which she and Lloyd, started including Hill Oil Company and Hill Motel.  She managed the motel for 35 years, selling it in 1984. She also served as bookkeeper for their service stations.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, MacArthur Sunday School Class, Republican County chairman for 35 years and organized the Republican Women’s Club.  She was a member of Aurora Club, Soroptimist International of Liberal where she played the role of Mrs. Santa for the annual gift program for more than 40 years and was in the Evergreen Garden Club.  She was a life member of the Liberal PTA serving as president of the council and also the McDermott School PTA.  She served as a troop leader for all four of her daughter’s Brownie and Girl Scout troops.

Survivors include daughters, Mary E. Hill Lambert, Liberal, and Sue Ellen Hill, Zalaorse, Texas; sisters, Imogene Ives Smith, Liberal, and Edythe Ives Poteet and husband, James “Sonny” Poteet, Liberal; seven grandchildren, Boyd J. Trimmell, Brita J. Trimmell Theriot, Blaine J. Trimmell, Marta K. Swinney Coffin, Tera K. Dome McAmis,  Kristinia M. Dome Hoya and husband, Chad, and Lesa J. Dome; four great-grandsons, Kelly L. Edwards, Patrick L. Theriot, Cid A Coffin and Vincent Coffin; nephew, Larry Creamer, Liberal; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughters, E. Kayann Hill Jenkins  on Dec. 16, 2005, and Karla Jean Hill Dome on Jan. 15, 1998; brother, George C. Ives; sisters, Paulene M. Ives Creamer, Ione Louise Ives Everts Willis and Dorothy Ives Hill; one granddaughter, the Rev. Denise A. Jenkins; and sons-in-law, William “Bill” Lambert and Gary Zalaorse, .

o Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Liberal, with the Rev. Dr. Stephen B. Saville presiding.

Burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday with the family present to greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to Good Samaritan Care Center or First Baptist Church in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS 67901.
