Southwest Medical Center has added yet another physician to its growing medical staff – Dr. Lamberto “B.J.” Flores, OBGYN.
Flores was born and raised in Elizabeth, N.J., and said as a child he was exposed to the medical field early in life.
“My father is a physician who is actively practicing internal medicine in Staten Island, N.Y., and my mother is a retired registered nurse,” Flores said. “Having grown up in a medically-oriented family, I chose to follow in my father’s footsteps and pursued a career in medicine.”
Flores earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Rutgers College in New Brunswick, New Jersey. While attending Rutgers College, he was accepted into the Golden Key National Honor Society. He earned his Medical Doctorate degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, N.Y. Flores completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J. He comes to Liberal from Louisiana where he has been in practice for eight years.
“They (St. Barnabas Medical Center) deliver more than 8,000 babies each year and more than 6,600 operative procedures are performed there each year,” Flores said.
According to Flores, during his residency alone, he delivered more than 1,000 babies including numerous sets of twins, triplets, and even quadruplets.
Prior to moving to Liberal, Flores was previously in a group practice in the state of Louisiana.
Flores and his wife, Karen, have one daughter, Alexandria Marie.
Flores will begin seeing patients on June 14 at his practice located at 555 W. 15th Street in Liberal. Appointments can be made by calling 624-5666.
