• Daily Leader staff report
Two people ended up in the hospital Tuesday evening after the car they were in rolled just northwest of Liberal.
Jessica Dawn Harp, 19, of Hugoton, was driving a 2006 Nissan Sentra eastbound around 7:30 p.m. on County Road 6 near the intersection of County Road F when she lost control, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol, and then slid into the north ditch and rolled the vehicle.
Harp wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car, while her passenger, 23-year-old Heeth A. Simpson, of Elkhart, was partially ejected as well. He, too, was not utilizing a safety restraint, according to the report.
Both were transported to Southwest Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. According to hospital spokesperson Nancy Kletecka, both Harp and Simpson were listed in “stable condition” at 8:17 this morning.
