In preparation for the Miss Kansas competition, 2010 Miss Liberal Sheniece Morton and Miss Liberal Executive Director Lu Haynes attended the two-day Miss Kansas Contestant Orientation that was conducted at Pratt Community College. All areas of competition were thoroughly reviewed, as well as announcing the music selections for the production.
The schedule for pageant week  begins on Sunday with contestant check-in and includes rehearsals, luncheons, community service projects, receptions, a Miss Kansas Fun Walk at Lemon Park, and many other activities scheduled throughout the week.
Preliminary competitions are at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, and at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, and the Miss Kansas Parade will be Friday evening. 
On Saturday evening, June 12, the final competition begins at 8 p.m. beginning with the naming of the Top 10. At the completion of the competitions, the new Miss Kansas 2011 will be crowned.
The Miss Kansas Outstanding Teen competition will also be conducted the same week at the Pratt Community College. Liberal’s Morgan Wills will be competing in this division which is for 13- to 17-year-olds. The Miss Kansas Outstanding Teen finals will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the college auditorium.
Many in the community are supporting two of Liberals finest young women in their endeavor to bring home both crowns.
