Obituary

MOSCOW – George P. “Phil” Gillespie, 79, died Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Satanta Long Term Care Unit.

He was born Dec. 28, 1930, to George D. and Helen W. (Whitnell) Gillespie in Springer, N.M.

He married Joyce C. Brown July 25, 1951, at the Stockton Ranch near Raton, N.M. She preceded him in death in 1992.

He worked as a rancher. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He loved spending time with family and caring for his animals. He also enjoyed sports, reading western novels, bird watching, storm watching, and speaking on the phone with friends.

He is survived by one son, Christopher Gillespie and wife, Christine, Bosque Farms, N.M.; two daughters, Leslie Randles and husband, Wesley, Moscow and Stephanie Gillespie, Springer, N.M.; one brother, Robert Gillespie and wife, Merna, Springer, N.M.; three grandchildren, Clay Randles, George J. Gillespie and Shane Gillespie; and other family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

o Funeral services will be Saturday, July 3, in Springer, N.M.

There will be no visitation.
