David “Jook” “Sugababe” Ward, 75, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at his home.
He was born Nov. 25, 1933, to Ernest and Lillie Poe Ward in Pickens, Ark.
He married Ella Mae Tucker in 1957. She died Feb. 15, 1992.
He worked at Light Grain & Milling, Perryton Equity and for 25 years, for the City of Liberal.
He is survived by five sons, Gabrial Ward and wife, Charlotte, Liberal, Robert Hammond and wife, Christine, Liberal, Arthur Hammond and wife, Cindy, Garden City, Donald Hammond and wife, Barbara, Fort Scott, and David Hammond Ward, Hugoton; two daughters, Marcelena McKenzie and husband, Leonard, Fort Wayne, Ind., and Shirley O’Neal, Bay City, Texas; one sister, Rebecca Hart, Los Angeles; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Terry Hammond.
o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bibleway Church of God in Christ, with Elder Lawrence Johnson and the Rev. M. L. Tatum presiding.
Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at Miller Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the David Ward Memorial Fund at Community Bank in care of the mortuary.
