Two separate one-vehicle crashes in Haskell County sent two people to the hospital over the weekend, with one man dying from the injuries he sustained.
The incidents started early Friday morning at 12:37 when Kayla Marie Bennett, 21, Plains, was reportedly being pursued by the Meade County Sheriff when the 1993 Honda Civic she was driving entered County Road WW just south of County Road 140, and, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol report, she went off the road, entered a field and rolled.
The report noted she was taken to Meade District Hospital for treatment of her injuries, and that she was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
The other one-vehicle accident happened at 10:20 p.m. Saturday when Eladio M. Morales, 42, Satanta, was southbound on HH Road in a 2006 GMC Sierra two miles north of U.S. Highway 56 when he went into the west ditch, came back onto the roadway and rolled, coming to rest on its wheels.
Morales was first transported to Satanta District Hospital and then transported by Eagle Med to Northwest Hospital in Amarillo, Texas, where he died from his injuries.
