TULSA, Okla. – David Lawrence Barber, 63, died Saturday, June, 26, 2010, in Tulsa, Okla.

He was born Jan. 27, 1948, to Lorraine Minter and Joe Lawrence Barber in Capitan, N.M.

He married Teri Lucero in 1968.

He then married Janet Henslee  March 24, 1995, in Roswell, N.M. She survives.

He graduated from Capitan High School in 1965.

He worked on the HELITAK crew for the Capitan Forest Services before working for Otero County Electric from 1968 – 1973.   In 1973, he began his career with Southwestern Public Service,  retiring in 1998.

He was a sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing, spending time with his grandsons, and fishing with his father-in-law.

He is also survived by his mother; two daughters, Dona Barber, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Heather Whiteley, Guymon; his sister, Doris Lasiter, Claremore; his grandsons, David and Michael Whiteley; his stepchildren, Barbara Cowan, Tulsa, Jake Henslee, Vinita, Billy Henslee, Borger, Texas, and Jesse Henslee, Las Vegas; and one son-in-law, Carl Whiteley, Guymon.

He was preceded in death by his father.

o Graveside funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Floris Cemetery, in Floris, Okla., with the Rev. Mike Whiteley presiding.

Memorials are suggested to  Whiteley Education Fund or the charity of the donor’s choice and may be mailed to Henson-Novak Funeral Directors, P.O. Box 1306, Guymon, OK 73942.
