Liberal moved a game closer to Jayhawk League-leading Haysville with a 10-2 win over Hays Tuesday on the road. However, Wednesday's game was postponed due to rain.
While the Bee Jays pulled into a tie for second with the Larks, Derby provided some help to Liberal by defeating Haysville, 14-2.
Liberal used a three-run second inning to jump out to a 4-0 lead on the Larks and continued to score throughout the game en route to the win.
The win was the eighth straight for the Bee Jays which has included four league victories and four non-league wins. The win was also the second in a row over the Larks. The Bee Jays started the eight-game win streak by knocking off Hays 8-4.
Joe Vaskas helped the Bee Jays with a three-for-five performance at the plate.
Richard Bohlken also went three-for-five in the win.
Paul Gonzalez earned the win on the mound.
Liberal and Hays will play again at 7 p.m. tonight. It will be the last game for the Bee Jays in Hays this season. The Bee Jays still have two innings of a game played in Liberal to finish with Hays and two more games at Brent Gould Field with the Larks.
The Bee Jays return to Brent Gould Field Thursday for a game against Dodge City before a critical three-game homestand with first-place Haysville Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All home games begin at 7 p.m.
