ELKHART – (Mary) Opal Coen, 98, died Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart.
She was born Nov. 27, 1911, to Raymond and Martha Rice near Pawnee, Okla.
She began working in “ready-to-wear” dress shops once children graduated from high school.
She was saved and baptized in Buffalo Creek near Sweetwater, Okla.
She was the president of the Morton County Hospital Auxiliary for many years.
She enjoyed volunteer work and often served the elderly.
She is survived by husband, Dale Coen, Elkhart; one son, Vic Clampitt and wife, Marjolyn, Austin, Colo.; one daughter, Dixie Boaldin and husband, Johnny, Elkhart; one stepson, J.D. Coen and wife, Lori, Elkhart; one sister, Nelda Joy Williams and husband, Frank of Goldsboro, S.C.; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Richard Clampitt and Truman Hickman; seven sisters; one brother; one step-daughter; one daughter-in-law, Lynne Clampitt; and one grandchild.
o Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Elkhart with the Rev. Larry Olson presiding.
Burial will follow at Elkhart Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.
