Linda R. Schmaus, 66, died Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born March 29, 1944, to Ralph W. and Ruth Barrett Newport in Liberal.
She married Lyle James Schmaus March 13, 1973, in Liberal. He died July 28, 1993.
She attended Liberal schools and graduated Liberal High Schoolin 1961.
She worked as a para-professional in the Garden City School System. She was a sales clerk at Dillon’s for 10 years and retired due to Parkinson’s Disease.
She was a member of the Central Christian Church of Liberal.
She enjoyed quilting and crocheting, her church family and being with family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her mother; one son, Matt Schmaus and wife, Kristin, Lawrence; one daughter, Elizabeth Tabor and husband, Mike; one brother, Larry Newport, Liberal; one sister, Deanna Studebaker and husband Bill, Chandler, Ariz.; and five grandchildren, Analisa, Peighton and Trevin Tabor, Conner and Rachel Schmaus.
She was also preceded in death by her father.
o Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Central Christian Church, with Pastor Chuck Scroggs presiding.
Burial will be at a later date in Liberal Cemetery. There will be no viewing. Her body was donated to research at Kansas University Medical School.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Central Christian Church or to the Linda Schmaus Memorial Fund (medical expenses) in care of the Miller Mortuary.
