MONTEZUMA – Irene Nightingale, 85, died Friday, July 9, 2010, at Bethel Home Inc. in Montezuma.
She was born May 25, 1925, to Tobias and Mary Koehn in Montezuma.
She married Herman Nightingale April 16, 1944 in Winton, Calif. He died Oct. 7, 2004.
She was a homemaker and a master gardner.
She was a member of the Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Ulysses.
Survivors include, two sons, Winston Nightingale and wife, Norma, Montezuma, and Martin Nightingale and wife, Rita, Scio, Ore.; one daughter, Jewel Nightingale, Brooksville, Miss.; one brother, Stanley Koehn and wife, Joyce, Winton, Calif.; two sisters, Mildred Johnson and husband, Duane, Almena, Wis., and Evelyn Smith and husband, Vernon, Ulysses; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Evan Nightingale; five brothers; and one sister.
o Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Grant Mennonite Church in Ulysses with Ministers Stuart Jantzen and Denton Koehn presiding.
Burial will follow at the Grant Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Montezuma Funeral Home.
