Alma I. Miller, age 85, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2010, at a Topeka hospice facility. She was born April 4, 1925 in Birmingham, England the daughter of Alfred J. Ireland and Elizabeth E. Cordes Ireland. She married Arnold C. Miller June 5, 1947 in Birmingham, England. He preceded her in death November 2, 1999. Alma grew up in Birmingham, where she was a member of the Royal Artillery British Army during W.W. II. She worked for the State of Kansas for 13 years as a secretary for several House of Representatives. She later worked for Jostens and Hallmark. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Retired Officers Association Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by a son, Arnold C. Miller Jr. She is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Y. McEntire of Topeka; a son, Frederick A. Miller of Liberal, KS; a brother, John Alfred Ireland of Scone, Scotland; four grandchildren, Tamara Miller, Jonas McEntire, Jennifer Carlson and Zachary Miller and 4 great grandchildren.
