In a rare occurrence, only one name had to be drawn for Saturday’s big prize in the High Plains Daily Leader’s Bumper-to-Bumper Christmas Parade, and when it was drawn, Liberal’s Pat Greer ended up driving home in a PT Cruiser.
Greer, who registered at The Best Market, said she registered three entries for the car, but as she noted, “It only takes one to win.”
She added she has been coming to the Christmas parade since its beginnings, and she was extremely excited about her new car.
“It’s awesome,” she said. “I couldn’t ask for a better graduation gift.”
Greer said the Cruiser is a gift for herself.
“I finish student teaching next week,” she said.
She has just finished graduating from college, having gone back to school to get a degree.
When asked what her plans are for the car, Greer simply responded, “Driving it.”
“Keeping it away from my grandson – my 6-foot grandson,” she said jokingly.
Saturday’s winner said the PT Cruiser was also the perfect gift because she could not afford to buy a car.
“It’s awesome,” she said. “I’ve wanted one, but it wasn’t in my college budget.”
Greer truly seemed to be in awe of winning the prize.
“I’m still crying,” she said in a Leader interview shortly after Saturday’s parade. “It’s too good to believe.”
