Human resources has been a division of city hall that has lacked the leadership of a director since Jeff Parsons’ move to director of Economic Development. Southwest Kansas native Sheena Lynch was officially announced as the City of Liberal’s new human resources director during a special city commission meeting Tuesday evening.
Originally from Hugoton, Lynch’s background is rooted firmly in southwest and central Kansas.
“I am originally from Hugoton, I was born and raised there,” she said. “My educational background, I went to Hutchinson Community College. Then I went on to Kansas State in Manhattan and received my bachelor’s in science. Then I went to Wichita State University and received my master’s in public administration.”
Lynch was formerly employed by Sedgwick County in its division of human resources, however, she was very interested in an opportunity to move back to the Southwest Kansas area.
“I saw the position opening and saw it as a real opportunity to come back to Southwest Kansas,” she said. “It is nice to be very close to family and friends that are out in this area.”
Although Lynch has only been in her current position at city hall for just over a month, she says she is enjoying the job and is settling in nicely.
“It has been wonderful, it has just been a pleasure working here,” Lynch said. “I am just looking forward to serving the citizens of Liberal and working for the great people here at the city.”
