An open rodeo is once again making its way to the Seward County 5-State Fair via Bill Hext of Hext Rodeo Company in Canadian, Texas.

Fair board member Jeff Louderback, said Hext, a well respected stock contractor, is also conducting the rodeo which will begin at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Seward County Fairgrounds.

“It is just an open rodeo,” Louderback said. “Bill Hext is bringing the stock for it, he is actually putting it on. He is from Canadian, Texas. We will have all the regular major events plus mutton busting and mule riding for the kids.”

Anyone interested in participating in any rodeo events is urged to call Hext today (Sunday) at 2 p.m., that is the time Hext’s books will open, Louderback said. Entries can be submitted by calling (580) 497-2397.

Events include bareback riding, calf roping, team roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, barrel racing, bull riding and then the mutton busting and mule riding for the youth, Louderback said.
