The Liberal Bee Jays advanced in the winners' bracket of the National Baseball Congress World Series tournament with an 8-1 win over the Austin Gold Sox Sunday in Wichita.

Edwin Arroyo went three for five and scored two runs in the win.

Mark Gomez tripled.

Liberal's win made it a clean sweep for the Jayhawk League in the first round of the tournament. Derby, El Dorado, Haysville and the Bee Jays all earned first round wins.

The Bee Jays will play again Thursday.
