Doris M. Smalling, 89, died Monday, July 26, 2010.

She was born Aug. 28, 1920, to Marlin and Ruth Jennings in Sentinel, Okla.

She married Jim Smalling Aug. 4, 1942. He preceded her in death.

A graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Okla., she taught school for more than 30 years in Oklahoma  and Kansas and was recognized as an outstanding teacher.

She was active in the church.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Brent Smalling and wife, Donna Kaye, Mesquite, Texas, and Terry Smalling and wife, Donna Faith, Wagoner, Okla.; two sisters, Monna Corbin, Sentinel, Okla., and Delora Mealor, Oklahoma City;  and two grandchildren, Mandy and Bobby, both of Dallas.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Harold “Sam” Jennings; one sister, Velma Hoffman; and two grandchildren, Joni and John.

o Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakcrest Church of Christ.
