Daily Leader staff report

The Liberal Redskin freshmen team moved to 2-0 Monday with a 53-46 win over Western Athletic Conference opponent Dodge City.

The Redskins had to come from behind after a slow start in the first quarter.

Dodge City jumped out to a 12-6 lead at the end of the first quarter due to turnovers that led to Red Demon transition points.

But the Redskins rallied in the second, going on a 19-10 run to take a 25-22 lead into halftime.

The Redskins started to dominate the offensive glass, getting second- shot opportunities and taking advantage of Dodge City fouls.

The Redskins extended their lead to 43-37 after the third quarter.

Liberal was able to maintain its advantage in the fourth and earned the 53-46 win.

Liberal was led by Kenlee West who scored 14 points. Lee Love added 12, and B.J. Washignton scored nine. Cliff Collins scored seven, and Larcyn Carter added five.

Three other Redskins scored two points each.

The Redskins will close out the first semester with a match-up with Pratt here Thursday and will travel to Perryton Friday.
