The winner of the $6,000 two-room makeover, sponsored by The Daily Leader, was announced during the Liberal Redskins’ Friday night football game. However, Barbara Campbell of Liberal was unaware of her prize until early this week.
“I won all of that?” Campbell asked with surprise. “I thought they were going to piece that out to several people.”
After she had some time to mull over some home makeover possibilities, her living room and a spare bedroom, now used as a storage room, rated at the top of her list.
“I need a new couch, I bought that last year, but it has coffee stains,” Campbell said. “It is too big for me to move. I can’t budge it.”
Campbell has a spare bedroom which is currently used as a storage room that she would like to transform into a bedroom for her son.
“I have sufficient furniture in my room,” she said. “But my son needs a new bedroom set. We have been thinking about switching him to that big bedroom, but it is full of storage.”
Campbell added the bedroom had not received new carpet in quite awhile.
“When we carpeted, Brown’s did the carpet in 2003 right before that big storm,” she said. “We did the two rooms we occupied and the halls and all downstairs where it needed it, but we did not get that room carpeted.”
Campbell will receive a living room set from Payless Furniture, a bedroom set from Furniture Mart, carpet from Scantlin’s and a TV stand and a surround sound system from Tek-Style.
Campbell said she registered for the makeover at several places, however, her Lyddon Aero Center entry won the contest.
