MEADE – Archie L. Boyd, 58, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at his rural Ford County residence.
He was born June 1, 1952, to Arthur L. and Eva Lorine (Hughes) Boyd in Meade.
As a young boy, he attended the Meade school system.
After his schooling, he joined the United States Marine Corps serving two tours of duty including Viet Nam and Okinawa, Japan. Upon his discharge, he returned to the Meade and Ford county area working as a laborer.
He was a member of the Methodist faith and enjoyed fishing, golf, crafts, mechanics and had a love for animals.
He is survived by one brother, Arthur L. Boyd Jr., Kanopolis; two sisters, Charlotte A. Dye, Meade, and Peggy A. Feldman, Meade; and five nieces and nephews, Dale Rosenberry, Duane Rosenberry, Charla Rosenberry, Valarie Stegman and G. Vaughn Fisher.
o Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary Chapel, Meade.
Burial will follow at the Graceland Cemetery, Meade with military honors by the Untied States Marine Corps. Cremation has taken place.
Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
