Johnny W. “Butch” Gilpin, 62, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
He was born March 21, 1948, to Mike and Hazel Jean (Wilbanks) McBee in Liberal.
He married Joyce Ann Strandberg May 6, 1977, in Beaver, Okla. She survives.
He attended Liberal High School.
He worked for J & R Sand Company of Liberal as a heavy equipment operator for 15 years.
Other survivors include two daughters, Dawn Veasey and husband, James, Wichita, and Crystal Underwood and husband, Josh, Liberal; one brother, Richard (Dick) Gilpin and wife, Roxanna, Tecumseh, Okla.; one sister, Carolyn Sue Copeland and husband, Tim, Fowler; and five grandchildren, Christopher Wren, Falisha Sutton, Sydnie Underwood, Dalanie Underwood and Hunter Veasey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth (Pete) Gilpin.
o Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Wyatt Carpenter presiding.
Cremation has taken place, and a private family burial will take place at a later date.
