ULYSSES – Melvin D. Ford, 80, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born Dec. 28, 1929, to Jesse L. and Amy L. (Lattimore) Ford in Liberal.
He married Rosalee Owen Feb. 25, 1956 in Ulysses. She survives.
He graduated from Grant County Rural High Schoo.
He and his wife farmed as well as raised cattle and hogs.
He enjoyed attending his children’s activities and spending time with his grandkids and family.
Other survivors include, one son, Justin Ford and wife, Brenda, Ulysses; one daughter, Dena White and husband, Ray, Garden City; one brother, Zeke Ford and wife, RueNell, Ulysses; five grandchildren, Jeremy White and wife, Makayla, Monty White, Amanda White, Jason Ford, Brandon Ford and wife, Mindy; one great-granchild, Brandon Michael Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Delores Gee, Wanda Winger, Naomi Heffelmire and Shirley Medlin.
o Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ulysses with Father Dale Lumley and the Rev. Sam Bynum presiding.
Burial will follow at the Golden Cemetery in Ulysses.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
