Robert "Bob" Martin Hayes 63, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2017.
He was born in Liberal.
He graduated Liberal High School in 1972.
He attended both Seward County Community Community College and University of North Carolina-Charlotte.
He was an avid KU Jayhawks fan.
He worked for Liberal Natural Gas Company before moving to North Carolina in 1994 to work for Piedmont Natural Gas Company.
He was a lover of music and a lover of anything technical. He would collect and listen to his albums, and had quite the collection of music. In later years, he became fascinated with his ham radio, and could be found listening and talking to others across the country.
He also enjoyed working in his yard, planting new plants and trees, and keeping his yard in shape.
Survivors include sister, Nancy Hayes Temple and husband, Adron, Mineral Wells, Texas; stepdaughter, Shanna Blanton and husband, Will, Fayetteville, North Carolina; step-grandsons, Wyatt and Nick Blanton, Fayetteville, North Carolina; nephew, Trey Temple, Fort Worth, Texas; niece, Courtney Anderson and husband, Matt, The Woodlands, Texas; great-niece, Adelyn Anderson; and great-nephew, Caleb Anderson, The Woodlands, Texas.
• Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017 at Jernigan-Warren Chapel at 545 Ramsey Street in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15 at the funeral home.
