ULYSSES – Lenora Cole Haney, 95, died Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.

She was born May 18, 1915, to Burley Cole and Gertrude (Kelman) Cole in Arlington.

She married Phillip A. Haney Sept. 4, 1935 in Hutchinson. He preceded her in death.

She grew up and graduated high school in Turon.  She attended Fort Hays State University and Sterling College and obtained her B.S. in Education.

In 1946, she moved to Colby, Kansas where she was a first grade teacher.

She was a member of the Priscilla Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, Kansas Teacher’s Hall of Fame, the Colby United Methodist Church and the Ulysses Dana Minor Circle. She taught piano lessons for many years and was a 25 year RSVP volunteer.

She enjoyed reading, music, crochet, tatting, volunteering at the Colby museum and being a social bug.

Survivors include one son, Ronald Haney and wife, Ramona, Garden City; one brother, Wendell Cole and wife, Mary Lou, St. Joseph, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Nina Haney, Cawker City; four grandchildren, Rodney Haney and wife, Jeanette, Renee Slover and husband, Rex, RaDonna Perrin and husband, Ken, and Rochelle Haney and husband, J.C. Smith; 13 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

She also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John Cole, Robert Cole and Donald Cole; and one sister Cleora Zink.

o Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with the Rev. Wayne Flanders presiding.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Laredo Cemetery.

There will be no public calling hours.

Memorials are suggested to the Grant County Senior Center, The Colby Senior Center or the United Methodist Church music departments in either Ulysses or Colby and may be sent in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, KS 67880.
