Special to the Leader & Times

The Eisenhower Warriors won their opening game of the Middle School Western Athletic Conference tournament, 34-23, against Great Bend. After starting the game with an 11-2 run, the Warriors kept pace evenly with the Panthers. During the second quarter, Great Bend twice cut the lead to four points.

altTimely baskets by Hunter Huskey and Jaden Gustafson gave the Warriors the separation needed to stay on top.

“We committed too many turnovers tonight,” Eisenhower coach James Babinec said. “We’ve got a tough Saturday ahead of us. These boys will need to play a more disciplined game.”

Leading the Warriors scoring was Coby Tran with 16 and Hunter Husky added 8.  Erick Baca pulled down 10 rebounds.

The Warriors play Saturday at Horace Good Middle School against Horace Good at 11:30 a.m.
