The American Legion Post No. 80 of Liberal will host a short Veterans Administration Coffee Tour stop for all veterans and their families who wish to learn more about their earned VA benefits from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Post Home at 25 W. Third in Liberal.
For those who cannot attend that session, Sublette will meet from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. at their post home with a meal served. Reservations are suggested by calling 620-675-2297.
The country’s largest veterans service, the American Legion assists more veterans and their dependents in filing for benefits through service in the Armed Forces than any other group or organization.
American Legion members authored the original GI Bill of Rights during World War II and have pioneered many veterans programs including compensation for veterans exposed to radiation and Agent Orange and investigating Gulf War Syndrome.
Tuesday’s meeting is part of the Legion’s annual American Legion Veterans Affairs Tour when state and district officers visit each of the more than 325 American Legion posts throughout Kansas. Kansas Adjutant Chuck Yunkers will be the tourmaster.
Membership chairman will collect memberships. Don Nevins, district commander, is entering all names of renewed or new American Legion members in a drawing for a gas grill, who pay their membership dues before Dec. 1.
VFW members and spouses and auxiliary members are also invited to this event. For more information, call 624-2039 or 624-2964.
