• L&T staff report

A Pueblo, Colorado, woman died Friday morning as the result of a fatality accident involving a semi and car in northern Seward County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported around 5:10 a.m. Friday, a 1991 Mercury Cougar was southbound on U.S. Highway 83 about 3.5 miles north of Liberal.

The KHP said the Cougar, for an unknown reason, crossed the center line and struck a 2000 Peterbilt truck.

The Mercury then rotated off the semi, the agency said, before coming to rest in the southbound lane facing east.

The semi, the report said, jack knifed and came to rest in the northbound lane.

Natosha Michelle Garcia, 29, of Pueblo, the driver of the Cougar, was pronounced dead around 8:40 a.m. Friday and was taken to Miller Mortuary in Liberal.

The semi’s driver, 60-year-old Leonard Earl Jameson of Jones, Oklahoma, was not injured in the accident

The KHP said restraints were in use in the Peterbilt, but not in use in the Mercury.
