ELKHART – Elizabeth “Bess” D. (Regensberg) McCarter, 49, died Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center – St. Francis Campus in Wichita.  

She was born Nov. 30, 1967 to Clyde and Sally (Trujillo) Regensberg in Cleveland, New Mexico. 

She married Brent McCarter Aug. 23, 1985 in Guymon, Oklahoma. He survives.

She grew up in New Mexico and Texhoma, Oklahoma. She graduated from Texhoma High School.  

She worked for the USD # 218 schools for many years.  

She enjoyed helping with her kid’s activities, and being with her grandchildren, who were very important to her. 

Bess was not only a warrior, but a pillar of love and strength for others, and touched the lives of many of over the years through her kindness and spirit.

Survivors also include her father; son, Tyler McCarter, Liberal; daughter, Kayla McCarter, Guymon, Oklahoma; brothers, Wesley Regensberg, Hugoton, and Lesley Regensberg, Denver; sister, Dessie West, Hugoton; and five grandchildren: Brooklyn, Izabella, Emery, Kyryn and Kysyn. 

She was preceded in death by her mother; grandmother, Juanita; and many cousins.

• Rosary services will be at 9 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2017 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Elkhart.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2017 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Elkhart with Reverend Mike Helms and Dick Rodriguez presiding.  

Burial will follow at Elkhart Cemetery.  

Friends may call from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.
