AMARILLO, Texas – Linda Alvina Smith, 86, died Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at Baptist St. Anthony Hospice in Amarillo, Texas.
She was born Jan. 20, 1924, to Robert and Lydia Bollinger Fritzler in Hooker, Okla.
She attended Hooker schools.
She married Edner E. Smith June 18, 1945, in Hooker. He died Feb. 27, 1976.
She worked as a waitress at Maxine’s for many years and later at the 54 Diner. For many years, she helped many families in Hooker as a caregiver.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Hooker and the America Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, gardening, keeping scrapbooks for her grandkids, reading her Bible and writing in her diary every day.
Survivors include one daughter, Raeleen Childress and husband, Rod, Hooker; brothers, Edwin Fritzler, Marianna, Ark., and Marvin Fritzler, Guymon, Okla.; one sister, Helen Hill and husband, Harold, Guymon; one grandson, Shawn Childress and wife, Joanna, Bartlesville, Okla.; one granddaughter, Rocheal Mathis, Hooker; great-grandchildren, Ryan Mathis and wife, Carrie, Hooker, Shayla Mathis, Hooker, and Kaleb and Asher Childress, Bartlesville; and one great-great-granddaughter, Madelynn Mathis.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, Robert, and grandson-in-law, David Mathis.
o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Nazarene in Hooker with the Rev. Roy Berkley officiating.
Burial will be at the Hooker Cemetery.
