Recently the Live On Stage Board of Directors decided to make a change that will hopefully be beneficial to everyone concerned. Starting in April of 2017 the organization will be going back to their original name dating back to the 1950s and will be now known as Community Concerts of Liberal, Inc.
“We have had many great times with the Live On Stage organization out of Nashville, Tennessee, and are thankful for all of their support over the years,” Board President Mike Brack said.
The new supplier of performances will be Allied Concert Services out of Plymouth, Minnesota. Allied Concert Services, Inc. was formed in 1948 by Norm Wendt and has been run by the Folin family since 1966. Allied has 135 organized concert associations in 15 states.
The board is looking forward to a great relationship with Allied and is confident the membership will be also.
Sound problems have been a concern in the past with groups that operated their own sound production, and Allied has guaranteed that they will be able to rectify this issue.
“We have beautiful concert accommodations at the James Maskus Auditorium at the Liberal High School, Steinway concert grand piano for the shows, and Doug Brewer and his team from Douglas Productions to assist us with top notch sound and lighting services,” Brack said.
This year’s membership drive for the upcoming 2017 – 2018 season will run from April 20 to May 18 2017. A kick-off dinner meeting is planned for Thursday, at 6:30 p.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Anyone interested in volunteering during the membership drive to sell memberships is encouraged to attend the dinner meeting by calling Brack at 620-482-0466.
“Every volunteer that sells five new memberships will receive one complimentary membership for their efforts,” Brack said
The Community Concerts of Liberal, Inc. organization has lined up a variety of concerts that will be of interest to many in the area.
Individual memberships are $60 per person, family memberships are $135 and student memberships are only $20 each. Typically, tickets for individual performances are not always available at the door, so purchasing memberships will be the most economical way to see these top notch performances. The upcoming performance lineup offers a wide variety of entertainment for our membership.
These five concerts will be very entertaining for the membership from around the area, according to Brack.
“Belonging to Community Concerts of Liberal Inc. is great family friendly entertainment right here close to home,” Brack said. “ Many of our members make an event out of the evening. They meet up with friends and go out to dinner and then go to the concert and then some even follow up the concerts with a trip to Braums for ice cream. So be on the lookout for our board members and volunteers around the area next month and get your concert membership so you are ready to go for the first concert in October.”
Keeping the performing arts alive and well in the area is the board’s primary focus.
“We have survived the local economic ups and downs over many years, and we want this to continue by sharing this entertainment with our new and diverse community,” Brack said. “Local, individual and business patron support has been invaluable over the years, and without the support we probably would not be still be around.”
