Obituary


Jo Klotz (Josie Bell Klotz), 100, died Thursday, May 11, 2017, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center in Meade. 

She was born Aug. 11, 1916 to John  and Martha Byrd in Cartersville, Oklahoma.  

She married Leo Klotz May 18, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1968.

She graduated high school as Valedictorian with the Class of 1936. She then attended Emporia Teachers College to earn a teaching degree, and taught at a one-room country school southwest of Dodge City.

She worked at the Rexall Drug store and later at the Gates Drug store in Meade.

She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, the LWML and the VFW Auxiliary.   

Survivors include son, David; daughter-in-law, Nancy; granddaughters, Allison and Lori; and great-grandchildren, Lily and Ryan.

• Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church in Meade 

Burial will follow the services at the Graceland Cemetery.  

Friends may call from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade

Memorials are suggested to the BEAM Center, St. John Lutheran Church or the Lone Tree Retirement Center.
