Corene Chance, 85, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born Aug. 9, 1925, to Edd and Nora Sherman Gentry in Viola, Ark.
She married Vernon C. Chance July 3, 1946, in Liberal. He died Nov. 12, 1995.
She attended school in Viola.
She and her husband owned the Drive In Market for 20 years. Later, she was a checker at Ellington Grocery and worked the snack bar at Stu Emmert’s.
She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Liberal.
She enjoyed camping and fishing and being with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Craig Chance, Wichita, and Mike Chance and wife, Linda, Wichita; one daughter, Jill Blackmore and husband, John, Liberal; one sister, Effie Hunt, Goodrich, Texas; three granddaughters, Tiffani Patterson, Crystal Clemens and Jennifer Antrim; one step-granddaughter, Suzie Mai; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, one sister, and one granddaughter, Kim Chance.
o Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Chapel with the Rev. Dee Estes presiding.
Burial will be at the Liberal Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Miller Mortuary.
