LAKIN — The Southwestern Heights Lady Mustangs volleyball team geared up for the High Plains League tournament with a sweep at the Lakin quad on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Mustangs downed Sublette 25-12, 25-17; Stanton County 25-14, 25-13 and Lakin 17-25, 25-13, 25-19.
Heidi Brown led Southwestern Heights with 28 kills, two blocks and five aces; Deni Jacobs recorded 15 kills, and block and three aces, and Rebi Jacobs had 12 kills and five blocks.
Head coach Julie Tucker was pleased with her team’s defensive performance, especially Marissa Angell.
“Marissa Angell did a great job defensively and led the team in digs and serve receive efficiency,” Tucker said.
Whitney Garinger recorded seven aces to go with her eight kills and a block, while Morgan Eakes had six aces. Rachel Stout recorded three kills and eight blocks for Southwestern Heights.
Heights enters Saturday’s league  tournament at Stanton County with a 30-2 overall record and the No. 1 seed with a 9-0 league record. The Lady Mustangs will play Saturday at 9 a.m.
