ULYSSES – Nick Frank Hernandez, 75, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at Bob Wilson Memorial Grant County Hospital in Ulysses.
He was born Jan. 21, 1935, to Pedro G. and Dominga (Medina) Hernandez in Torrington, Wyo.
He married Mary Enis Villarreal Aug. 7, 1954, in Crowley County, Colo. She died July 6, 1993.
He later married Mary Pacheco.
He was a farmer and a custodian for USD No. 214 at Ulysses High School.
He was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church of Ulysses.
Survivors includ two sons, Frank Hernandez and wife, Carol, Ulysses, and Michael Hernandez and wife, Dalinda, Ulysses; one daughter, Susan Ortega, Garden City; three brothers, Carmen Hernandez and wife, Mary, Ordway, Colo., Lupe Hernandez and wife, Julie, Plains, and Raymond Hernandez and wife, Donna, Deerfield; seven sisters, Josephine Martinez, Leoti, Bertha McGann and husband, Jack, Palco, Connie Maturey and husband, Junior, Satanta, Mary Hernandez, Satanta, Theresa Torres and husband, Roy, Leoti, Andrea Gerstberger and husband, Dale, Marienthal, and Rosario Klar and husband, Paul, Brodus, Mont.; 11 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Joseph Hernandez, two brothers, Tony and Paul Hernandez, and one granddaughter, Shawna Hernandez.
o Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses with Father Trong Tran presiding.
Burial will be at the Ulysses Cemetery.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Grant County Funeral Home.
