SUBLETTE – Ryan Brett Riley, 48, died Sunday, July 9, 2017 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. 

He was born Sept. 22, 1968 to John Edward and Penelope Ann (Paulsen) Riley in Spokane, Wash.

He married Elizabeth Lynn Jewett Aug. 13, 2000 in St. Petersburg, Fla. She survives.

He graduated from Sarasota High School in Sarasota, Fla. in 1988. 

He enlisted in the U.S. Army prior to graduating from high school. He went on to be stationed at Furth Army Base in Nuremberg, Germany. Following an honorable discharge from the Army, he continued his German experience by working for Eurowings in operations control and air traffic control. 

Eventually, he landed at the Lowry Park Church in Tampa, Fla., and would later minister at churches in Florida, South Carolina, Washington, Texas, Kansas, and even a church-plant in Sedro-Woolley, Wash. His final calling was at the Sublette Christian Church. 

In addition to being a pastor, he served as a firefighter, EMS responder, deputy sheriff and summer camp manager.  

He dedicated himself to the communities he ministered in, and invested himself in projects such as managing youth summer camps, serving as chaplain for high school football teams, working with Fellowship of Christian Athletes and coordinating a toy drive at Christmas. 

He also loved horses, the outdoors and the South Carolina Gamecocks. 

He enjoyed fishing while living in Washington.  

Survivors also include his mother, Penelope “Penny” Treadwell and husband, Thomas, Brooksville, Fla.; daughter, Cheyenne Ashley Riley, Sublette; sister, Heather Hammond and husband, Thomas, Pace, Fla.; niece, Elizabeth Hammond; and nephew, John Thomas Hammond. 

He was preceded in death by his father.

• There will be a Celebration of Life service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Sublette Christian Church in Sublette. 

Cremation has taken place.
