Loren Edward Wenzel, 88, died Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at his home.  

He was born June 11 1929 to Henry Wenzel and Minnie Stephan Wenzel in Benton County, Minn.

He married Grace Wiley in 1953. She preceded him in death. 

He marred Karen Ione Tollefsrud Sept. 3, 1966 in Clayton, N.M. She survives.

He attended Maplewood Academy in Hutchinson, graduating in 1947. He attended the Brown Institute in Minneapolis for one year in 1962. 

He served in Korea from 1950 to 1953 in Company B, 64th Tank Battalion. 

In 1966, he went to work for the Tri-State Two Way Radio and worked there until 1983, when he purchased the business. He continued working there until his retirement in 1996. 

He was a life member of the VFW and American Legion. 

He loved to make headbands for cowboy hats. 

Survivors include sons: Stephan Wenzel, Los Angeles, Douglas (Terri) Wenzel, Wichita, and Jeffery Wenzel, Wichita; stepson, John (Sue) Ringwelski, Rice, Minn.; daughters: Kathlene (Larry) Loft, Sidney, Mich., Lori (Joe) Eartman, Minneapolis, Minn., and Leanne (Chris) Keith, Goddard; stepdaughter, Beth Ringwelski, Rice, Minn.; sisters, Loraine Musta, South St. Paul, Minn., and Anna Bonacorda, South St. Paul, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Vernon Wenzel.

• Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2017 at the Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ryan Watson presiding. 

Burial will be take place at the Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery in Fort Dodge with military honors.

Memorials are suggested to the Seventh Day Adventist Church for Evangelism in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd St. Liberal, KS 67901.
