Cleberne D. (C. D.) Eldridge, 84, died Monday, July 17, 2017 at his home in Denver. 

He was born Sept. 26, 1932 to Hazel Pennington Eldridge Cooper and Merle Eldridge in Liberal.

He grew up near the Palo Duro River east of Hardesty, Okla. 

He graduated from Hardesty High School in Hardesty, Okla. in 1950.

He joined the United States Air Force and served in Korea for four years. 

He married Shirley (Houpt) Eldridge Sept. 4, 1953 in Englewood, Colo. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage.

He worked for the Denver Fire Department, starting as a mechanic and rising to the position of chief master mechanic. While working as master mechanic, he was involved in the purchasing of fire trucks and responded to many calls. He retired from the fire department in 1988.

He was also developed an interest in mechanics at a young age. He developed a passion for Packard automobiles and restored many during his lifetime. He was a long-time member of the Packard Automobile Club and the Rocky Mountain Packard Club. He served on the board for both organizations for many years.

• Funeral services took place Friday, July 21, 2017 in Denver.
