Enough negativity E-mail

LETTER TO THE EDITOR, Tabby Young, Liberal

I would like to thank the city employees for all of the hard work they do.

There has been a lot of negativity against the city commissioners and city manager recently. Just like a snowball, the negativity rolls downhill. It affects all the city employees. From the city manager all the way down to the city employees that pick up trash.

I personally am tired of reading about the same issues against the city commissioners and city manager over and over again. I feel there should be some kind of line drawn between having an “opinion” and having a vendetta bordering on belligerence. Reading the Opinion Page lately reminds me of the movie, “Kelly’s Heroes.” “Again with the negative waves.” Once you have stated your opinion, not once but several times, hush. Especially if you don’t really know the facts, can’t keep the facts straight or simply don’t care one way or the other as long as you can drag someone’s name through the mud.

There are those of you who are quick to judge and point fingers, along with naming names. Given the real facts and not your own personal feelings towards these people, do you think you could do a better job?

In my opinion it is highly doubtful. To do their job you have to be open-minded, unbiased, conduct yourself in a professional manner and above all else know the information regarding the issues. Not bits and pieces spliced together to suit yourselves and get the outcome you want.

The City of Liberal is growing and changing for the better. Think about what could be achieved if the city commissioners, manager and department heads could just do their jobs instead of defending themselves against a few that were told no on issues that they wanted. Those are the people that are holding Liberal back from growth and development that this town needs and deserves.

You cannot do their jobs and make everyone happy or step on a few toes. Please, let’s move on people.
