TURPIN, Okla. – Darrell L. Atchley, 83, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, in Stevens County.

He was born Dec. 7, 1926,  to L.H. (Pete) and Rassie L. (Shelby) Atchley in Gould, Okla.

He married Jeri Walden Aug. 12, 1948, in Wellington, TX. She survives.

He attended school at Gould.

He was employed as a fieldman, heavy equipment operator and welder for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co. retiring after 34 years of service. After his retirement, he farmed for Roy Stickler for 20 years.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Other survivors include two sons, Keith Atchley and wife, Jan, Waukesha, Wis., Kerry Atchley and wife, Libby, Liberal; two daughters, Diane Nelson and husband, John,          Yukon, Okla., Crystal Knudsen and husband, Doug, Liberal; two brothers, Randall Atchley, Amarillo, Texas, and Kenneth Atchley, Quinlin, Texas; one sister, Bernice Stahl, Pryor, Okla.; 12 grandchildren, Amber Fowler and husband, Brian, Mustang, Okla., Ashton Blair Nelson and wife, Melissa, Chittenango, N.Y., Sarah Eckes and husband Chris, Kaukauna, Wis., Airman Austin Atchley, Eglin AFB, Fla., Joel Knudsen and wife, Elizabeth, Liberal, Zachery Atchley and wife, Erin, Liberal, Mikayla Knudsen, Liberal, Zane Atchley, Oklahoma City, Melanie Knudsen, Liberal, MiLeah Knudsen, Liberal, Montana, Knudsen, Liberal, and Joshua Knudsen, Liberal; eight great- grandchlidren, Brett, Cherylynne and Kaylyn Fowler, Mustang, Okla., Sawyer and Coen Nelson, Chittenango, N.Y., and Ryan, Madelyn and Allison Eckes, Kaukauna, Wis.

He was preceeded in death by parents, six brothers, two sisters and one grandson, Christopher Keith.

o Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastors Bill Prater and John Nelson presiding.

Burial will be at Restlawn Cemetery.

Friends will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday with the family present to greet friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to the Fellowship Baptist Church Building Fund in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second Liberal, KS 67901.
