Several contracts and agreements will be the focus for the USD 480 school board during its next meeting this evening beginning at 6:30.

The first readings of these contracts will comprise the first handful of the items on this evening’s agenda, with the first being the first reading for the renewal of the contract with Heartspring Service. The other contracts to be discussed will be the service agreement between Southeast Kansas Education Service Center (Greenbush) and Liberal USD 480 for occupational therapy services and occupational therapy monitoring, audiology contracts with USD No. 457 and High Plains Educational Cooperative, the local interagency agreement  between the Kansas Children’s Service League Head Start and USD 480 Liberal for the 2017-18 school year, orientation and mobility services with the Kansas State School for the Blind, and the transition from Part C to Part B services agreement with the Russell Child Development Center.

Technology will also be on the agenda for the board, with the first of these requests being for projectors.

“The east annex at Liberal High School needs to have projectors in each classroom.  During the remodel power and cables were installed for short throw projectors,” the agenda information noted. “USD 480 needs to order 23 short throw projectors to complete this project.    This quote will be for the projectors $1,495 each and $6,994.60 for installation and testing, and $740.53 for shipping. This is the same company that won the bid for the short throw projectors installed in all of the new schools.”

Along with the projectors, the board will also be asked to approve purchases for 25 new laptops for staff at all campuses, 60 ChromeBooks to help for increased attendance and programs, and the purchase of computer lab tables for the LHS east annex. The board will also be discussing trading in non-functioning and out of date iPads.

To complete the new business at the meeting, the board will also be asked to approve the substantial completion for Phase III of the bond project.
